Going away on a holiday or a business trip?
What do you bring with you when you travel?
Whether you are going on a vacation or to work, do travel light, but travel in style.
Watch your back and be prepared for the unexpected.
Here are travel tips for women.
Travel Tip #1
Creased your outfit and don't have a steam iron handy in the hotel room? Laundry services won't make it in time? Hang your outfit behind the door when you take a shower. Hopefully the steam might help straighten out the outfit so it is more presentable.
Travel Tip #2
Carry your passport and most of your cash in a flat pouch under your clothes. In your wallet, keep only your credit card and enough cash to tied you through the day. If a pickpocket steals your wallet, at least you have your passport and most of your cash with you. You can always call the credit card company to report a stolen card.
Travel Tip #3
Downsize your toilletries for your travel. Transfer your shampoo, shower gel, cleanser, toner and moisturizers into mini bottles with screw on caps for your holiday. Better yet, bring just enough in the form of product samples (mini bottles or satchets) for your trip.
Travel Tip #4
Keep bottles of shampoo and liquids in a waterproof bag and keep that bag sealed. That way, if the bottles explode, only the inside of that sealed bag gets messed up and your clothing and whatever else is in your luggage does not get ruined.
Travel Tip #5
Bring along tinted moisturizer instead of your day cream and foundation. A good tinted moisturizer is a 2-in-1 product that functions as both a moisturizer and a foundation.
Travel Tip #6
Less is more when you travel. Get a makeup stick that you can use as an eyeshadow, blusher and for lipcolor. NARS the multiple is one such 3 in one makeup stick.
Travel Tip #7
For your eyes, if your lashes are naturally dark a good eye pencil is all you need to define your eyes.
Travel Tip #8
A small jar of vaseline comes in handy when you go to dry or cold climates. Vaseline is a great way to protect the skin and seal in moisture. And it can even double up as lip balm.
Travel Tip #9
Organize your toiletries and makeup in your cosmetic case. You should be able to fit in everything you need if you bring sample sizes or travel size containers.
Travel Tip #10
Backpacks are the most convenient way to go. If you can travel light and fit everything into your backpack, travelling would be a breeze. Strap that onto your bag and you can move around with your belongings easily.
Travel Tip #11
Lock your luggage so that smugglers can't hide stuff into your luggage and make you take the rap for their activities. Get luggage with combination locks. If you can't find such luggage, get a padlock or a combination lock to secure the zips of your bag.
Travel Tip #12
Roll up your woolen and knit clothing tightly to prevent crease lines.
Travel Tip #13
Bring clothes in fabrics that travel well. Pure silk crease easily so unless you have a steam iron in the hotel room, leave your 100% pure silk dress behind. Go for wool blends, cotton blends and anything with lycra or spandex as these are more wrinkle resistant.
Travel Tip #14
Going to a third world country? Drink bottled water to be safe.
Travel Tip #15
Bring along a mini first aid kit for emergencies. Dressing, band-aid, antiseptic cream and an antiseptic wash are the basics. Add on aloe vera gel if you are going somewhere sunny as that is excellent for sunburns. Bring along a small bottle of lavender essential oil for cuts and wounds as it heals the skin and kills some of the bacteria and the soothing scent helps you destress or even sleep. Tea tree oil has strong antibacteria properties so bring that along to disinfect wounds.
Travel Tip #16
Facial cleansing wipes are handy for quickly cleaning off the makeup at the end of a tiring day. They'd come in handy when you need to wash your face but can't find clean water to wash with.
Travel Tip #17
antibacterial wipes are a boon when you go out with your family. Can't find a place to wash your hands before eating? Wipe your hands with an antibacterial wipe.
Travel Tip #18
Get vaccinated before you travel. Get your flu shots in case you come in contact with the bug on your holiday. If you go someplace where a particular disease is prevalent, get immunized against it before you go.
Travel Tip #19
Bring along a book to read during long waits.
Travel Tip #20
A light weight raincoat would keep you dry in case it rains.
Travel Tip #21
A formal skirt or dress and a pair of comfy pumps would come in handy in case you go to a fancy dress code restaurant for a meal. It happens. Every other restaurant may be closed by the time you get there, except that one restaurant that has a dress code.
Travel Tip #22
A travel sized pack of sanitary pads comes in handy in case your period comes before you expect it.
Travel Tip #23
If you are going to the tropics or someplace warm and humid, bring along insect repellent.
Travel Tip #24
Don't wear real diamonds, or precious gemstones when you travel. They could get stolen. Clever imitations or cubic zirconia jewelry look just as good and cost far, far less.
Travel Tip #25
A few ready to eat snacks and a bottle of water would come in handy if you are delayed, or the kids get hungry.
Travel Tip #26
Bring some evian water to spritz on your skin in the airplane when the air gets really dry.
Travel Tip #27
Moisturize face and body and use lip balm before you set foot on the plane. The air when the plane takes off, gets very dry.
